Buck Lake Methodist

The Buck Lake Methodist Church was built in 1893 and moved to Gray in 1925. This is one of the oldest churches still standing in Saskatchewan.

 Grain Elevators

Gray had five grain elevators before 1930. Company names changed over the years, but the service remained until the rail-line was discontinued in 1995.

Gray Booth 

The booth was purchased from the Milestone Agricultural Fair Board in the mid 1930's and moved to the sports grounds. Gray Sports Day 'July 4' was well-known on the calendar.​

​What began with busy streets lined with; livery barns, lumber yards, implement dealers and retailers has become a mainly residential community.​​​​

​Gray Cemetery

Established in 1923 just south of town. Original diagrams were discovered and volunteers are hopeful we can one day complete the project as planned.​​

Gray Masonic Lodge

The Buck Lake Methodist Church was closed in 1919. The building was repurposed in 1925 and hauled to its location in Gray with a team of 24 horses pulling it on skids. ​

Gray Memorial Hall

​The hall was built during the early 1950’s and named to commemorate those that served in World War I and II. Renovations over the years have ensured it remains a popular venue.​

Gray Museum/#306 SHoF

The Home Quarter Museum  includes: #306 Sports Hall of Fame (over 30 inductees), grid map ceiling,  town dioramas (Gray, Estlin and Riceton), artifacts and displays.

Gray Post Office

In the early years the venue did a lot of 'moving'; from farmer's homes, to town residences, to the General Store and finally post boxes on Main Street.

Gray Rink

The first rink was built in 1921 with baled straw for walls. The first permanent structure was built in 1926. The present version was constructed in 1975.​

Gray Rural Telephone Co.

​Communities had to have a telephone operator on staff to handle calls. Phones would ring in bursts to signify which homeowner should pick up. Seven-digit dialing arrived in 1973.​

Gray School

Gray School was opened January 1922. A new structure was built in 1964. Gray was forcibly amalgamated in 2007 and the school was closed. Some class pictures are included.

Gray Shortline RR
Centennial Park​

When the rail was scheduled for removal - 66' (two rail-lengths) was saved and reconstructed on Main Street. The surrounding area was designated Centennial Park.​

Gray Station
​

Grand Trunk Pacific Railway station was built in 1914. Passenger service was discontinued in 1959 but grain continued to move on the tracks until 1995.

Gray United Church
​

​The first church (Methodist) was built in 1914 and became United in 1925. The new church on 3rd Avenue was built with volunteer labour and opened June 1982.​

Pioneer Windmill
​

​The windmill on Main Street was erected (during Homecoming festivities in 1984) to recognize the sacrifice and devotion of the settlers of our area.
