1984 Homecoming

Hundreds of residents, past and present, attended a weekend full of activities. Each of Gray, Estlin and Riceton hosted their own 'weekend'. Merchandise was produced; 'the ties that bind' history books, colouring books of local buildings and note cards. 

Friday July 13

• Registration at Gray Memorial Hall

Saturday July 14

• Pancake Breakfast
• Parade - entrants included farm equipment, school alums, corporate floats and local talent.
• Old school district booths were on display at Gray School.
• Antiques, artifacts and memorabilia were on display at Gray Memorial Hall.
• Program
  • Dean Boesch emcee
  • Entertainment - readings (Adele Bratt, Margaret Lewis), soloists (Dianne Burrows, Paul Helstrom, saxophonist (Cliff Lewis), voice (three generations of Lewis; Margaret, Sharon Frei and daughters Deb and Karen), trio Lori Boesch, Deb and Karen Frei), Sweet Adelines choir.
  • Fashion Show - Neva Lafoy narrated while over 75 outfits from christening robes to wedding gowns to swimwear to service uniforms to formal wear. Everything had a description and was choreographed to music.
  • Supper followed by a dance.

Sunday July 15

• Interdenominational church service at Gray United Church
• Lunch at the rink
• Bus tours around Gray District were available.
