Inducted 2014 Curling
|
Lisa began curling when she was 12. She was a good athlete, excelling in fastball and volleyball as well. She had a determination and drive to always be better!
She participated in the Curl for Kids program at the Callie Curling Club in Regina. Her Junior career began with Karen Clarke, playing 3rd. They made it to the Southern Juniors in Coronach in 1994. In 1995, she was asked to curl on a team skipped by Tanya (Bryant) Gray, Kristy (her sister) at 3rd, Roberta (Moore) Materi at 2nd with Lisa playing lead. They were the Saskatchewan provincial runners-up in Wynyard. In 1996, Lisa moved to curl Lead with Cindy (Street) Ricci skipping Jackie Downer at 3rd, Alyson (Tanner) Slupski at 2nd. They successfully won the 1996 Saskatchewan Jr title and went to Edmonton for the National Juniors. In a week filled with hard fought battles they managed to get to the final against Heather (Godberson) Nedohin. What a game! It went to an extra end with Lisa's team having last rock! It was heartbreaking as Heather prevailed and the Sask squad were Canadian runners-up! In 1997 Lisa again curled with Cindy but now in women's curling and once again teamed with sister Kristy at 3rd and Danita Michalski at 2nd. In 1998 Lisa played lead with Amber Holland, Kay Montgomery and Pat Bell, they finished 3rd in Rosetown. Lisa became her sister's biggest supporter as Kristy won that Provincial with Cathy (Inglis) Trowel. In 1999, Lisa went to curl with Michelle Englot, Darlene Kidd and once again with Roberta at 2nd and again advanced to the Provincial in Weyburn. In 2000, Lisa was reunited with her sister Kristy, Tanya Bryant and Tamara Greenbank. In 2001 that team went to the Provincial in Estevan. Kristy then departed for Vancouver and Lisa curled with Nancy Inglis, Shannon Aleksic and Danita Michalski. They went to the Provincial in 2003 in Balgonie. |
