Kristy Lewis

Kristy started curling in Grade 8 and curled throughout high school in Milestone. She also participated in Curl for Kids in Regina where Elmer Schmidt teamed her with Katherine (Roberts) Zimmer, Roberta (Moore) Materi and Jill Dushinski. In 1992 she took her young team to her first Junior Provincials. In the following years she skipped teams to three Southerns and two more Provincials. In 1995 playing 3rd for Tanya Bryant, along with sister Lisa and Roberta they were runners-up.
In 1995-96 she played 3rd for Susan Lang in her first year of women's curling! Then in 1996-97 was 3rd for Cindy Street and playing again with sister Lisa. In the 1997-98 season she played 3rd for Cathy Trowell winning the provincial title and going on to participate in The Scottie's Tournament of Hearts hosted in Regina. At the provincials in Rosetown she was awarded the Marj Mitchell award for combining curling excellence and sportsmanship! At the Scottie's, representing Saskatchewan, they lost a tie breaker to BC. After another season with Cathy in 1998-99, Kristy formed her own team with sister Lisa, Tanya (Bryant) Gray and Tamara Greenbank going to the Provincials in Estevan in 2001. That year Michelle Englot won the provincial and took Kristy to the Scottie's as her fifth player. Also, in December of 2001 she was Michelle's fifth at the Olympic Trials in Regina. In 2002 Kristy moved to BC and skipped her own team to the Scottie's in Brandon representing BC. At the beginning of the competition she won the Ford HotShots (and a car). Since that time, she has competed in five more BC provincials, once placing third. |
